The IB Diploma Program, offered in Spanish and some subjects in English, is the High School base program. Although in 10th grade students must decide whether they will take the full program or not, all students must take Theory of Knowledge (TOK), meet the Creativity, Activity and Service (CAS) requirements, and develop the Extended Essay or Research Project, besides taking the exams of one of the three levels of IB English offered by the School (English A: Literature, English A: Language and Literature and English B).
At the beginning of their second semester, 10th grade students decide which syllabus they will take during High School, focusing on obtaining the IB Diploma or preparing for the PSU (Chilean SAT) exams. Regardless of the chosen syllabus, they must select six IB Diploma subjects: Language and Literature, Language Acquisition, Individuals and Societies, Sciences, Mathematics and Arts, all of which are taken during the last two years of High School. This selection allows each student to create their own syllabus based on their interests and skills, within the range of subjects offered by the School. On the other hand, all High School students, regardless of the selected program, have seven hours of exclusive PSU exams training in 11th grade (two hours of PSU Language training, two hours of PSU Mathematics training, three hours of PSU Sciences or History training). In 12th grade, one extra training hour is added for Sciences or History, reaching a total 8 hours training for PSU exams.
PROGRAMS
Plan 1: IB Diploma
This plan allows the student to choose the IB exams in 12th grade and apply for the IB Diploma, granted by the International Baccalaureate, which is accepted by a large number of universities around the world. All students in this plan must decide if they will be IB Diploma candidates during the second semester of 11th grade.
Most of the students have Spanish and English as mother language within their study plan, however, a smaller number takes English B as second language.
Students choosing this plan must have three higher level subjects (pre-university) and three standard level subjects (highest level of medium education). Also, everyone must take Citizen Education and Physical Education, as well as PSU training workshops.
