Board of Directors


The Board of Directors of the Santiago College Educational Foundation is composed by the Board and six members. The representatives belong to the Methodist Church and the Alumni Association, while the three Honorable members are individuals invited to contribute to this Board from their diverse professional backgrounds and perspectives.

The directors have the mission of overseeing the School’s General Policies, with the overarching goal of guiding it towards cutting-edge education and academic excellence in a bilingual environment that thrives in cultural diversity. Likewise, they aim to form global citizens who actively contribute to the development of society in a globalized world subjected to continuous changes.

Claudia Torres Barrenechea / President

Claudia Torres Barrenechea / President

Independent dental surgeon from the University of Chile, Director of Banigualdad Foundation and Director of the Santiago College Alumni Association Corporation.

She served as Director of Student Affairs at the Andrés Bello University and was Vice-Rector of Research and Extension in the same higher education area. Claudia has actively participated in the SC community in different roles, such as president of the Parent’s Association 2008-2011, as a member of the Board of Governors of the Santiago College Educational Foundation for the period 2010-2012, and currently in her position as Alumni Director.

She is currently pursuing a degree in Philosophy at the Los Andes University.

Ramón Cañas Cambiaso / Vice President

Ramón Cañas Cambiaso / Vice President

Civil Engineer in Electricity from Universidad de Santiago, MBA in General Business Management from the Escuela de Negocios Española IEDE and MBA in Business Management and Organization from Universidad de Lérida, Spain. In addition, he studied in the Advanced Management Program of the Corporate Governance Center of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile.

With more than 25 years of experience he has led companies and has held management positions, forming work teams in the commercial, operations and technical areas, in national and multinational service companies at a massive and corporate level. As an executive, he has stood out for his ability to quickly adapt to new challenges, generate favorable conditions for teamwork, orient business towards sustainability and foster relationships with stakeholders.

His vast experience includes management positions in companies such as VTR, Aguas Chañar (CEO), Entel and Metro de Santiago (CEO), and he is currently General Manager of Traza Ltda, one of the main companies in the country, a provider of field services for the telecommunications industry.

Carmen Figueroa Deisler / Secretary

Carmen Figueroa Deisler / Secretary

Lawyer from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, with an LLM in International Finance Law from the London School of Economics.

She has more than 27 years of experience as legal manager of companies in the energy sector. She served as General Counsel of GASCO S.A. and Legal Manager of Metrogas S.A., the latter until November 2022. She currently works as a director of corporations.

Carmen has 4 children, all former students of Santiago College.

Bishop Jorge Merino Riffo / Representative of the Methodist Church

Bishop Jorge Merino Riffo

Bishop of the Methodist Church of Chile since 2018. He completed his studies at the CTE (Comunidad Teológica Evangélica de Chile), graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Theology.

Bishop Merino’s ministerial work has been developed in: Angol, El Vergel, Huequén, Tomé I and II, Penco, IMEMA, Avanzada San Lucas, Iquique I, Nueva Vida (A. Hospicio) and Avanzada Huara.

Sara Muñoz Rojas / Representative of the Methodist Church

Sara Muñoz Rojas

Early Childhood Educator and General Basic Teacher from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, she has a Master’s degree in Educational Management from the Universidad Alberto Hurtado and has completed various courses and further training in the areas of theology, family, upbringing, attachment and good treatment.

Sara is a member of the Methodist Church of Chile, being part of its leadership since her youth in missionary areas within Chile and other Latin American countries, with a focus on Christian education and work with children and adolescents in areas at social risk. She is currently the national president of the Network of Methodist Educational Institutions of Chile (MEM).

Since 2019, she is the director of a nursery and kindergarten of the Methodist Church of Chile.

Alejandro Albagli Cazes / Class of 2003

Alejandro Albagli Cazes

A lawyer from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, he worked as an attorney at Barros y Errázuriz, Kinross Gold Corporation and Albagli Zaliasnik, focusing on venture capital, mergers and acquisitions and corporate law. After completing his MBA at Columbia University in New York City, he worked in the sales strategy team for Microsoft’s highly complex clients at the company’s headquarters in Redmond, WA. Once back in Chile, he created Ideal Invests, a company that makes real estate investments in the United States for non-US investors, operating as CEO of that company since 2019.

Fernando Javier Santibáñez Soto  / Honorable Member

Fernando Javier Santibáñez Soto 

Primary and secondary education at Deutsche Schule R.A. Philippi in La Unión, currently part of the Los Ríos Region. Bachelor of Legal and Social Sciences from the University of Chile in 1998. Licensed attorney since 1998. Postgraduate diploma in Labor Law and Social Security from the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile in 2005. Master’s studies in Law with a mention in Public Law at the University of Chile from 2017 to 2018. Currently pursuing a Master’s in International Sports Law at Unisport Management School, Barcelona, Spain.

Arbitrator judge on the list of authorized arbitrators of the Court of Appeals of Santiago, and appointed by various civil courts in Santiago to handle civil and commercial cases.

Memberships: Member of the Chilean Bar Association since 1998, Chilean Society of Labor Law since 2005, Labor Studies Center since 2009, Chilean Institute of Procedural Law since 2011, and Center for Innovation and Development of Labor Law since 2017.

Main Areas of Practice: Advising on matters related to labor law; advising on administrative contracting; litigation in labor, civil, and administrative matters; and civil and commercial arbitration.

Parent at Santiago College (SC) between 2007 and 2022, serving as a member of the Parent Association and representing it on the Santiago College Board between 2014 and 2015.

Pamela Figueroa Rubio / Honorable Member

Pamela Figueroa Rubio

Doctor in Political and Social Studies (Universidad de Santiago de Chile), Master of Arts in Latin American Studies (Georgetown University), Professor of History (Universidad Metropolitana de Ciencias de la Educación). She is currently Associate Professor at the Institute of Advanced Studies of the Universidad de Santiago de Chile and Advisor to the Electoral Service of Chile. Leibniz Scholar at Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law (2022), and Georgetown Leadership Program Scholar (2007).

Author of several books and academic publications. Among her most recent books are “El quiebre de la democracia: 50 años después” (co-edited with Peter Siavelis, Editorial USACH, 2023), “Cómo funciona nuestra democracia” (co-edited with Lucía Dammert; Editorial USACH, 2022). She is a member of the Chilean Association of Political Science, of the Network of Women Political Scientists, member of the International Council of the Observatory of Political Reforms in Latin America (OAS-UNAM), and member of the International Advisory Board of the States and Institutions of Governance in Latin America (“SIGLA”) database Project of Georgetown University for the period 2024-2025.
