At our school, creativity is very much present in all subjects, and students become thinkers of their own ideas, in tune with their individual talents. We have spaces specially designed for expression and experimentation, so that children can discover unique and novel worlds that foster curiosity, initiative and the ability to create.
Likewise, innovation is at the heart of a transformative learning experience, where our students go beyond the curriculum, generating original and meaningful proposals both inside and outside the classroom. We nurture students capable of tackling challenges with creativity, judgement and responsibility, contributing innovative ideas that have a positive impact on their environment, so they may become global citizens.
At the school, innovation is built with our hands and shaped by ideas. Our Creative Space is an environment designed for students to imagine, experiment and transform their ideas into concrete solutions.
Located in the Learning Centre, the Creative Space is a laboratory of ideas from Middle School through to the Diploma Programme, opening up a world of possibilities where the conceptual becomes tangible. Through manual and digital processes, students explore, design and build impactful solutions for their personal projects.
Here, creating means learning through innovation. Students produce everything from figures and textiles to large architectural models and furniture, developing key skills such as precision, perseverance and collaborative work. To this end, we have laser cutters and a range of precision tools and machinery.
At Santiago College, the International Baccalaureate’s Design Technology invites our students to imagine, create and transform ideas into real solutions. Through a dynamic, people-centred design process, they develop creativity, critical thinking and innovation to tackle the challenges of today’s world.
In an environment where technology enhances learning, students research, test and build, developing skills such as problem-solving, communication and the expression of ideas. They use different forms of modelling—conceptual, graphic and physical—to bring their projects to life, exploring, refining and learning at every stage of the process.
Technology design also opens the door to new creative tools and languages. Students learn 3D modelling, prototyping, digital design and manufacturing, whilst assessing the impact of their ideas on people, society and the environment. In this way, we nurture young people capable of creating with purpose, actively engaging with the digital world and developing solutions that truly make a difference.
