{"id":86360,"date":"2026-10-06T12:03:04","date_gmt":"2026-10-06T15:03:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.scollege.cl\/?p=86360"},"modified":"2026-10-06T12:14:01","modified_gmt":"2026-10-06T15:14:01","slug":"plastic-monsters-a-2nd-grade-initiative-for-a-more-sustainable-sc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.scollege.cl\/en\/plastic-monsters-a-2nd-grade-initiative-for-a-more-sustainable-sc\/","title":{"rendered":"Plastic Monsters: A 2nd Grade Initiative for a More Sustainable SC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">As part of Santiago College\u2019s efforts to work toward <strong>Eco-Schools<\/strong> certification, our 2nd graders took part in an activity aimed at raising awareness about the amount of plastic we waste every day.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">Last week, together with our janitors, students collected plastic waste generated across the school and used the materials to create <strong>&#8220;plastic monsters&#8221;<\/strong>\u2014providing a powerful visual representation of the amount of unnecessary waste we produce.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">This<\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\"> activity is part of <strong>&#8220;Plastic Free and Proud,&#8221;<\/strong> a campaign that aims to reduce single-use plastics at Santiago College and encourage more sustainable habits among students and their families.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">The initiative reflects the broader effort of different members of our community to build a more sustainable school by promoting the 3 Rs: Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle both on campus and at home.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span lang=\"EN-US\">A follow-up activity will take place<\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\"> on Wednesday, October 7, to compare the waste collected and see if the amount of single-use plastic found in our bins has decreased.<\/span><\/strong><span lang=\"EN-US\"> With the commitment of our entire community, we hope to progressively reduce unnecessary plastic waste and move together toward a more sustainable SC.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As part of Santiago College\u2019s efforts to work toward Eco-Schools certification, our 2nd graders took part in an activity aimed at raising awareness about the amount of plastic we waste every day.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":6531,"featured_media":86354,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[3],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-86360","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-home"],"aioseo_notices":[],"aioseo_head":"\n\t\t<!-- All in One SEO 5.0.4 -
