Last week 5th-graders held their Exhibition, a very significant activity for students, where they have the opportunity to summarize their lessons learned during the IB Primary Years Program (PYP) and share them with the school community through different creations. This activity also helps them exercise abilities, knowledge and understanding of the subject they are investigating.
The Exhibition is the end of a long process led by the actual children, who show everything learnt during the first phase of the International Baccalaureate learning method, which lasts from first to fifth grade.
This year, the minors worked the concept of “identity” that created a special interest related to the identity of gender, human rights, inclusion, fashion, digital security, among other. Each motivation was the start of thorough investigations, including talks to experts and direct contact with related communities; this permitted them to understand globally relevant subjects that affect human beings in the construction of their identity.
As a result of this investigation, the students defined specific actions that they could undertake in order to show everything they had learnt. They organized awareness campaigns, prepared informative notice boards, wrote songs and planned talks for specific audiences.
