This traditional Santiago College ceremony had to be performed in a very different way, adapting to government protocols.
A small ceremony was held with the Seniors, divided in groups of 10 students each, where they received the gift that the Juniors traditionally give them, the gift from the School and a very important symbol that is normally part of the Ring and Medal ceremony.
Despite the current context of the Covid 19 pandemic, the school wanted Seniors 2020 to receive their Rings and Medals, among other gifts, emblems that highlight them as members of the SC alumni community. Respecting all hygiene protocols, and even though the school period has already concluded, these symbols were given with a lot of affection to the 2020 twelve-year students as part of a new milestone in a complex period of pandemic.
The Ring and the Medal is a very antique tradition, which transmits the legacy of Santiago College from generation to generation, since recurrently those who deliver these emblems are relatives of Seniors who have previously graduated from SC, such as grandmothers, fathers and mothers. On this occasion, and due to the circumstances we are experiencing, these symbols were given by Mrs. Lorna Prado, SC Headmaster, to all Seniors 2020.
