Primary Years Program (PYP)

Methodology

The Primary Years Program was adopted by Santiago College in March 2000.

It focuses on the development of the whole child in the classroom and in the world, and features the incorporation of a variety of environments in which children learn into the curriculum. The Primary Years Program offers a framework that is designed to meet children's academic, social, physical, emotional and cultural needs.

The PYP uses a comprehensive constructivist approach to teaching and learninG AND an international curriculum model that provides guidelines for LESSON CONTENTS, teaching methodology and assessment strategies.

Schools that use the PYP value the flexibility that it provides in terms of the language(s) in which the students are taught.
