LIBRARY RULES

The Santiago College Library is open to the school community: students, teaching and administrative staff, alumni and parents.

1. Schedule

Lower School 8:00 am to 4:30 pm
Middle School 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
Upper School 8:00 am to 6:00 pm

2. Loans

Books and magazines may be borrowed for a period of 2 weeks, with a possibility of renewing for an additional 2 weeks, as long as they are not reserved for someone else. In that case, items must be returned.

Loan of audiovisual material is for 1 week, as long as it is not on reserve.

Books from the reference collection will only be loaned for the day and for classroom use.

Parents who wish to use the Library can register at the circulation desk of the Upper School Library.

3. Overdue books and fines

A $50 pesos fine will be charged for each book and for each day that it is overdue, including weekends and holidays. This fine will be charged starting with 5th grade.

For Alumni, fines will be $100 pesos per day and per title, including weekends and holidays.

If a student returns the books, but neglects to pay overdue fines, he/she will not be able to borrow additional material until account is settled.

In the event that a book is lost, or that a book is returned in a damaged state, it must be replaced with the same title, and if the same title is not available, then with a book of the same general characteristics and value.

Overdue notices will be given to students monthly by their corresponding inspectors.

4. Behavior

Students must leave their schoolbags and other belonging in the cubbyholes located at the entrance to the Library, or in the areas designated by the librarians.

Voices should be kept low so as not to disturb other Library users.

Eating, drinking and chewing gum is not permitted in the Library.

Running and playing inside the Library is not allowed.

Use of cell phones is not allowed.

Use of computers is restricted to school-related purposes only.

Students are responsible for picking up after themselves. They should pick up scrap paper, push chairs under tables and return books to the circulation desk or designated area.

Wrongful and inadequate behavior will be sanctioned with a demerit or by any other measure that the Principal of each section deems convenient.

BOOKS, MAGAZINES AND AUDIOVISUAL MATERIAL CANNOT LEAVE THE LIBRARY UNLESS REGISTERED BY THE LIBRARY STAFF.
